Selection Weekend - Young

I guess the journey really started for all of us the weekend of the 28th and 29th August as we left our various home ports and arrived enforce on the unexpecting regional town of Young, which is a central point of in the Rotary District 9300, in Central New South Wales.

Nervous nominees from Orange, Parkes, Lake Cargellico, Griffith, Oberon, West Wylong, and Wagga Wagga underwent two days of GRUELLING interviews and presentations and were constanty under scrutiny from ruthless Rotarians from around the district who had the task of selecting two teams of four candidates to travel to Oklahoma and the Philippines.

Dane, Libby, Frank and myself were very, very fortunate enough to be selected  as members of the Philippines team which departs around 24 February 2011 and returning at the end of March 2011.

We have a rigourous pre-trip planning program ahead of us involving catching up one weekend a month at each members home town where we will finalise travel arrangments and develop presentations which will need to be delivered whilst on the exchange.

I think it would be fair to say, that two weeks after being selected we are still somewhat in shock at being chosen for what can only be described as a "once in a lifetime" opportunity!

We hope you enoy following us on this journey as much as we will enjoy making it!

Somewhat shattered after a VERY challenging, but enjoyable weekend!
